Lake Como Villa: An Interior in the Spirit of La Dolce Vita

Lake Como Villa: An Interior in the Spirit of La Dolce Vita

How we created an interior that harmoniously blends the classic Italian lakeside home with contemporary solutions.

Lake Como is one of those places where the landscape itself sets the design brief. The water, the mountains, the old stone villas - everything already speaks a language of calm, beauty, and history.

Our client's villa dated from the 1920s. The bones were exceptional: original terracotta floors, vaulted ceilings, arched windows that framed the lake like paintings. Our job was not to redesign - it was to complement.

We chose materials that echo the landscape: linen fabrics in natural undyed tones, hand-plastered walls in a warm lime finish, local stone for bathroom surfaces. The furniture - a careful mix of vintage pieces sourced locally and new Italian pieces by Meridiani and Flexform - sits as though it has always been there.

The result is an interior that feels earned rather than designed. Guests walk in and feel the history of the place - not because we preserved it unchanged, but because every choice we made was in conversation with it.
