Buying luxury furniture directly from Italian factories sounds straightforward. It rarely is - unless you know exactly what to watch for.
1. Underestimating delivery time. Italian furniture is made to order. Lead times range from 8 to 24 weeks depending on the factory and the complexity of the piece. If you need furniture for a specific move-in date, plan backwards from there.
2. Ignoring customs documentation. Bringing furniture into the UK or non-EU countries requires proper commercial invoices and HS codes. Missing paperwork means your furniture sits in a bonded warehouse while fees accumulate.
3. Skipping the site survey before ordering. A sofa that fits the showroom might not fit your staircase. Always check access routes, ceiling heights, and door widths before placing an order.
4. Not reading the warranty terms. Italian manufacturers typically offer 2–5 year warranties, but the terms vary. Some cover only manufacturing defects; others cover fabric and mechanism wear. Read the fine print.
5. Ordering without a local point of contact. If something goes wrong after delivery - a damaged panel, a mechanism that sticks - you need someone who can communicate directly with the factory. That is what we do.
